It’s hard to put a price on driving human progress, but when you’re operating in a competitive business environment, you need innovative pricing strategies. Our Pricing team within Sales Operations is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating these strategies. We conduct research and competitive pricing analysis and monitor the ongoing business environment to ensure Dell Technologies maintains a competitive market position.

The Global Pricing Transformation team sits within the CFO organization. Our mission is to establish the pricing framework that’s used across Dell and to design and work with IT to implement the business systems that deliver the intended pricing in all routes to market through which we sell product.  In recent years, the team has made significant strides in using advanced data interpretation and machine learning to bring new insights into the pricing process.  This role will help manage the Dynamic Deal Scoring initiative, which leverages a machine learning model to improve and drive better consistency in Special Pricing/Deal Desk choices.  The Executive Management Team, Business Units, Special Pricing, Global Pricing Transformation, and the Pricing Centers of Competence will all have visibility to the progress being made and the impact delivered by this initiative.

What you’ll achieve

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the roll out and expansion of the Dynamic Deal Scoring (DDS) application globally.  The Dynamic Deal Scoring application is the user interface that delivers pricing insights from a machine learning model to o Special Pricing and Sales management.  As part of this role, you will be responsible for setting the strategy and providing subject matter expertise for the program. 

You will:

• Craft the story for bi-weekly progress reviews, working with the regional Consultant-level team to create the materials and drafting slides when needed
• Drive consensus around a globally consistent approach where possible
• Set direction for the program, including aligning with the IT team on tool enhancement priorities, establishing the reporting methodology, and identifying short and long term levers to pull to drive impact
• Serve as a problem solving partner to both more junior members of your team and to stakeholder organizations and be a “listening post” and point of escalation; solicit improvement ideas from stakeholders and use data to prioritize/disposition any suggestions
• Evangelize Dynamic Deal Scoring outside the immediate group of stakeholders, presenting in available forums to drive program awareness

Essential Requirements

• 15+ years experience with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or marketing; or 12+ years and a Master’s degree and 5+ years of people management experience
• Prior experience in Deal Desk/Special Pricing, list price management, or discount guidance management roles is ideal
• Strategic thinker, capable of seeing both the big picture and the tactical, day-to-day actions required to achieve it
• Advanced quantitative problem solving skills, including the ability to design/structure analysis to answer specific business questions with advanced Excel skills and an ability to visualize data to draw out key insights
• Comfortable having difficult conversations/negotiating to ensure tool business case is fully realized

Desirable Requirements

• Prior product management, business transformation, or technology (e.g., software development, business requirements gathering, IT project management) experience
• Working knowledge of common data science/machine learning algorithms/techniques
